Teachers have a profound impact on the students’ lives and society. If you want to make a difference in a child’s life while continuing to be a life-learner than teaching is a rewarding career path. Most teacher’s typical responsibilities including teaching, student management, administrative tasks, and extracurricular activities.

The Associate of Science Degree in Education is designed for persons who plan to transfer to a four-year college  to complete a baccalaureate degree preparing them to teach at the elementary, middle-school, or secondary level.

Overall employment of kindergarten and elementary school teachers is projected to grow 7 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Rising student enrollment should increase demand for kindergarten and elementary teachers, but employment growth will vary by region.

Employment of middle school teachers is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Rising student enrollment should increase demand for middle school teachers, but employment growth will vary by region.

Employment of high school teachers is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Rising student enrollment should increase demand for high school teachers, but employment growth will vary by region.

What Hours Would I Work?

A teacher’s job hours  will vary according to the school, the grade and the subject level taught. The average teacher works 7.5 hours (8:00 am –  3:30 pm). Additional work hours may include tutoring students, attending meetings, and collaborating with fellow educators.

Where Can I Live?

Teachers are in demand nationally. Most teachers and teacher’s aides live within 30 miles of the school where they teach.
